Memorandum of Unterstanding Signed between the Civic Initiative Save Sinjajevina and Piva Nature Park Ltd.
The Civic Initiative Save Sinjajevina and Piva Nature Park Ltd. held a meeting today during which a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed, establishing a framework for joint action in the field of nature protection and the preservation of mountain areas in Montenegro.
The Memorandum was signed by Milan Sekulović, President of the Citizens’ Initiative Save Sinjajevina, and Ivan Doderović, Executive Director of Piva Nature Park Ltd. The agreement foresees mutual support and cooperation in the promotion and preservation of mountain areas, particularly Sinjajevina and Piva, as well as strengthening cooperation with local communities that traditionally live and work in these regions.
The cooperation will include the exchange of knowledge and experience in the management of mountain and protected areas, the promotion of sustainable management of pastures and katuns (traditional summer pastoral settlements), support for the preservation of traditional pastoral livelihoods, and the development of joint initiatives and projects that contribute to the sustainable development of Montenegro’s mountain regions.
During the meeting, it was also agreed to initiate joint international activities in cooperation with ILC and the ICCA Consortium, with the aim of strengthening the protection of mountain ecosystems and supporting local communities that manage these areas.
The signed Memorandum represents an important step towards strengthening cooperation between organizations that share a common vision of preserving natural values, pastoral systems, and the sustainable development of Montenegro’s mountain areas. The agreement has been concluded for a period of five years, with the possibility of extension upon mutual consent of both parties.
