A Rich Program at the Katun Assembly for Petrovdan

The camp began with the traditional Katun Assembly held in celebration of Petrovdan, featuring a rich program and a table laden with local delicacies. The cultural and artistic society "Vesna" from Mojkovac delighted attendees with traditional dances and songs, bringing a touch of heritage to the festive occasion.

After the program, participants embarked on a hike to Savino Lake. During this excursion, members of the organization and nature enthusiasts emphasized the importance of preserving Sinjajevina, highlighting their opposition to the construction of a military training ground and the destruction of the mountain's ecosystem. Approximately 150 participants sent a clear message about the need to protect this invaluable area.

Education and Enjoyment in Nature

On the first day, participants set up the camp and spent the evening around a campfire, engaging in conversations and learning about the organization's work. On the second day, they attended workshops on medicinal herbs led by Cana Braunović, who shared her extensive knowledge on identifying, harvesting, drying, and using plants. Dr. Miloje Zejak added another dimension to the workshop by explaining the health benefits of these plants through practical examples from his practice.

In the afternoon, a hike was organized to Savino Lake and a nearby dam, where participants had the chance to enjoy the natural beauty, collect plants, and observe wildlife. A highlight of the hike was the company of horses, which enriched the campers' experience.

Women’s Activism in Montenegro and the Region

A special focus of the camp was on women’s activism. Elida Adrović and Ivana Čogurić from the organization Ecopatriotizam shared their experiences, discussing challenges, motivations, and perseverance in fighting for nature. Their stories inspired participants to deepen their understanding of the importance of activism and solidarity.

Creative Moments and Slavic Mythology

Longtime journalist and Katun resident Danilo Vuković presented traditional works crafted by his sister in an embroidery exhibition. Participants had the opportunity to choose souvenirs such as embroidered pillowcases, tablecloths, and mini-blankets while enjoying stories of Sinjajevina’s heroines.

A workshop on Slavic mythology and the role of women in Slavic society sparked numerous questions and discussions, further enriching the camp’s program.

Environmental Action and Farewell

On the final day, participants dismantled the camp and organized an environmental cleanup, leaving the mountain pristine and orderly. They also took the opportunity to gather medicinal herbs and apply the knowledge gained during the workshops.

The "Planinka" camp once again demonstrated how nature, education, and tradition can unite people in the shared goal of preserving Sinjajevina. Participants left the camp with new knowledge, experiences, and friendships, carrying a clear message: Sinjajevina belongs to all who love and respect it.
